Damien Wills
If you are not acquainted with the man also known as “Dom”, Damien Wills is an Australian who happened to cruise Portugal in search of good waves. When Dom came in contact with Fatum Surfboards he was surfing in the Peniche vicinity, having as his one and only board a tuflite-like surfboard (he had broken all his other boards during travel). Gero offered him a board for him to try out. We were really amazed by his power surfing, one of the best styles, power and manoeuvre repertoire ever seen around here. No wonder he was 3rd at last year’s (2008) Air Tahiti Nui Von Zipper Teahupoo Trials.
MacMasters Beach, where Dom grew up was a good place to learn what he does.
Great videographer and editor for years, his huge surf potential was only recently discovered.
For Dom it’s not about fame and glory. Very modest freesurfer. He never pushed or tried to be noticed. It just happened. He became fully sponsored in 2008 and now travels the world as a pro surfer. Living his childhood dream.
Damien was one of the main surfers in “Eastside Theory”, as well as the brave water videographer.
“Explosive array of big airs, sick flips and commando pits” are only some of his tricks in the water. Spearfishing is his other hobby. When not in the ocean or glued to his MacBook Pro, he would show some impressive snowboarding skills or attend craziest parties you can imagine (no surprise, when you line up next to him and notice his toenails polished bright pink from last night)!
